Bowls with Texture
Elements of Ceramics
Class of 2022
Spring 2019
This is my first year here at Trinity and my first year taking ceramics. This year for my art show I tried to make all my pieces use textures. I intended for the glazes not to be cohesive. The green leaf peace was the first piece I made. I made it by rolling out a slab of clay the using a roller to add texture. It inspired me to make all of the other pieces. I wanted the one with the blue glaze to be wavy, so I dipped it in a glaze to make it go along with the texture giving it that wavy look. To give it the texture I first made a bowl then did the same for the leaf but put the slab on top of the bowl. For the one with the vines, I want the texture to pop off, exaggerating the peace. To give it that texture I did the same as the blue bowl. The brown bowl, however, did not come out as I wanted. The glaze went on too thick smoothing the whole bowl not showing the texture. In total, I am happy with my pieces and I look forward to taking ceramics again.
